Britney Spears made a lot of resolutions this past year so are you wondering what the 27-year old’s resolution is for this year? The recovered pop princess said “I have to stop biting my nails!” if that’s what her main goal is for 2009, I think she’s a bit delusional. Though it seems that she may not keep that resolution though as she added “I end up breaking [resolutions]. It’s hard. I would like to stop worrying so much, because I worry all the time.” Considering how measly her resolution is, I guess it’s ok to let her break it.
Timbaland is coming out with a new album and it is once again filled with names you can only see on the A-list. ‘Shock Value: Volume 2’ is the follow up to his 2007 release and it is due to come out in stores on February 14th. Once again, the record features his most frequent collaborator Justin Timberlake. Justin Timberlake sings on the album’s lead single ‘Meltdown’ alongside Gwen Stefani. The song will be released to radio on January 5th. Other artist featured include Usher, Keri Hilson, Jonas Brothers, Madonna, Rihanna, T-Pain, Akon, Jay-Z, Linkin Park, Dr. Dre, Missy Elliot, Jordin Sparks, TI, Flo-Rida and Coolio.
A new Kanye West parody has been unleashed. It’s an obvious shot at the rapper’s latest album ‘808s and Heartbreak’ as the parody is titled ‘Kevye West: 808s and Expiration Dates (Guac Lockdown). The video’s description reads “Pitch auto-correction and a simple beat can make anything chart-worthy; even a freestyle about guacamole and expired milk.” I think the tape over the sunglasses is genius! If you’re lost on what this is about, try to find a video of Kanye performing ‘Heartless’ on SNL. Apparently, the pitch vocal auto-correctors weren’t functioning properly for that performance. Sure. It still doesn’t excuse him for giving a crappy performance.
Almost everything has been hit by the recession but concerts seem to be doing ok for now. Most other businesses are already floundering but the concert industry is actually boasting one of its best years ever as it scored just under $4 billion worldwide, a 13% increase from last year. Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen and Madonna are the top 3 when it comes to ticket sales. Billboard’s concert industry writer figures that it’s because live music is “not something you can get a fix for somewhere else.” He was pretty quick to warn though that “it would be crazy to think that the economy and unemployment won’t impact ticket sales at some point.”
